Gamespot's (exceedingly quality, for real) News section is reporting that the Playstation 3 may use the Blu-ray Disc format. A Sony director is quoted as saying, "We'd like to establish a ground by adopting read-only BD-ROMs for a home video game console." Of course this is the director in charge of Blue-ray Disc development, so ...
Still, it's not out of the question that Sony could add the 25GB optical discs to the PS3. The inclusion of DVD in the PS2 seemed extravagant at the time, but helped make the format the standard it is today.
