This press release from the International Imaging Industry Association and Sandisk feels a little bit like kicking film cameras when they're already down. According to a study done by the groups out of the goodness of their hearts, flash memory-based media (like those in digital cameras and cameraphones) will make it though airport X-ray scanners just fine, while film might be susceptible to "fogging"—especially higher-speed films.

So not so much news for digital camera shooters—I thought we all knew that X-rays only caused cancer, not erased memory—but if you're a film junky just take a little extra care when traveling, like screaming, "My film is fogged! Die heathen film-fogging infidels!" at every TSA checkpoint. Then you won't have to fly at all.
