Fisheye lenses distort a scene to absurd proportions—which is why fisheye photography is so fun to see. Here are your fisheye photos from this week's Shooting Challenge.

Winner: Man on the Moon

10 Fierce Fisheye PhotosS

It looks like surface of the Moon on old Moon maps and there are those fisheye photographers nemesis number two in picture: feet. Number one is beanie. Camera Nikon coolpix P7100 , Nikon fisheye converter FC-E8 0.21X, Siocore adapter tube for Nikon P7000 58mm, Home made plastic sliding adapter tube inside siocore tube for FC-E8 just to get adapter enought close to camera lens. Bamboo Towers

10 Fierce Fisheye PhotosS

This picture was taken in Arashiyama district of Kyoto. I was finishing up a two week mainly ski vacation to Japan and was in Kyoto for 24 hours. I made it a point to visit this area to photograph the bamboo forest and Mount Arashiyama. It had snowed in the morning and now rain was falling from the bamboo trees making it difficult to keep water off my lens. The wide angle really enabled me to show how the bamboo towers over the ground and makes the path seem insignificant.
Shot with Sony A57 and Rokinon 8mm ultra wide angle F3.5 and 1/160s.

Stilts

10 Fierce Fisheye PhotosS

At a kids family day arts festival, this guy was stumbling around on his stilts. Camera: Lumix LX5 Exposure: 1/60 sec @ f 2.0 Focal length: 5.1 mm ISO: 320

Creepy Trees

10 Fierce Fisheye PhotosS

This shot if from Franklin Canyon in Los Angeles. Went hiking, saw these "creepy trees" and snapped a shot with my GoPro 3 Black edition. I did a little color correction in Photoshop.

Hoth England

10 Fierce Fisheye PhotosS

all the snow we've been getting in New England, it certainly feels like Hoth out there. I invested in a Snow Speeder so that I can still get to work. Taken with a Nikon D600 with a 10.5mm fisheye lens. ISO 100, 1/2500 sec, f/2.8.

Poor Tree

10 Fierce Fisheye PhotosS

My name is Alecio, I used a Rokinon 8 mm Ultra Wide Angle f/3.5 Fish-eye Lens with my Canon 70D, 1/160 sec, f11, ISO100I took the photo on Ocean blvd in Santa Monica, a perfect spot to see the sunset. I was just hanging with some friends there and I thought the tree was perfect for a shoot with the fish-eye lens.

10 Fierce Fisheye PhotosS

I was at the Annual Whisky Flats Days in Kernville California this weekend with some friends, we were watching the parade that took place on Saturday the 15th and I took this shot with my Sony NEX3 using its standard 16mm-50mm lens then used Photoshop to add theFisheye effect via filter.

The Ugly Lens

10 Fierce Fisheye PhotosS

I am no Brad Pitt but not as nearly as ugly as this lens makes me look. I even got kind of cross-eyed on this shot because of the angle. This fisheyelens is specially good for underwater pics, but it makes some very cool "dry" snaps too. The distortion rate when it is on 10mm is astounding. Since the weather is terrible here these days I decided to make something indoors. I almost had to touch my nose with the lens to make this shot. Canon 5D Mark IIITokina 10-17mm lens Flash Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT

The Shard

10 Fierce Fisheye PhotosS

I love how you can use the exaggeration and distortion of fisheye to give a sense of foreboding. This statue shows a boy staring up towards the top of The Shard in London but how lonely must he feel with the rest of the city seemingly creeping over and engulfing him. Olympus OM-D E-M5 Samyang 7.5mm Fisheye lens ISO 200, f/5, 1/1000sec Obviously a bit of work in post (Lightroom)

Dead Trees

10 Fierce Fisheye PhotosS

The image was captured with an iPhone 5s, using the suggested Fisheye app (3.6). There were minor global corrections in Paint.net, including increasing the contrast, and adjusting the resolutions. It is a picture of a pair of trees, which in the summer form a dense canopy of leaves for shade. Now, in the dead of winter, with snow filled clouds, the branches make a nice contrast, and the fisheye effect is an encompassing effect to fill the frame.

Beer

10 Fierce Fisheye PhotosS

Equipment used for this shot: - Nikon d90 - Sigma 10-20mm lens shot @ 10mm - 400 ISO 1/30 sec F 4.0
