Oh the lengths people will go through to cool off on a hot and humid summer's day. The man standing in the photo, Frank, has invented a shower attachment to an NYC fire hydrant so that he can have an impromptu cooling shower in the middle of the sidewalk. Before anyone goes off on how this is wasting valuable fire-fighting water resources, also note that the NYFD actually provides a totally legal sprinkler cap for city hydrants, just for those times when you or the neighborhood kids want to cool down. But while Frank's sidewalk shower invention is illegal, it definitely looks like an awesome way to cool off, city style.
