Apple has announced today that its flagship MacBook Pro models will be receiving a slew of modest improvements. Here's what's the new 13 and 15 inch machines will have under their hoods.
On the hardware side, the new 13-inch version is more svelt than its predecessor, just .71 thick and weighing over 3 pounds, thinner and lighter. The 13-inch MBP will feature 2.4 GHz Core i5 (Haswell) processor with 4GB RAM and a 128GB SSD. Its existing Retina display capacity will be enhanced by an Intel Iris GPU. It ships today $1300, $200 less than last years..
The 15-inch MBP is also receiving a significant upgrade. Apple has packed a 2.0 GHz quad-core i7 with 8GB of DRAM and a 256GB SSD into the machine, as well as an Intel Pro GPU. All this while cutting $200 off the price tag down to an even $2000. The MBP also ships today.
Additionally, both new MBPs will run the latest OSX rev, 10.9 Mavericks. Apple has also confirmed that the laptops will feature a Thunderbolt 2 port in addition to an 802.11ac Wi-Fi radio.
