Elecom, the Japanese company that specializes in making cheap mice, hard disks and other USB thingamajigs smaller, has even put together some fairly nice-looking speaker orbs for iPods. Now it goes for the cubic look with its MS-77W USB 2.1 speaker system, with two satellites and a subwoofer powered by an integrated 3-channel amplifier. The speakers are unusually light, too, together weighing just 6 ounces—and if they sound halfway decent they might be a good companion for a laptop. Available later this month in Japan for $55.
