We've gotten a chance to play with the T-Mobile myFaves service where you choose five of your most gossipy friends for unlimited calling. To start, yes it's free calls both to and from your five.
Am I charged for incoming calls from my Fave 5? Any domestic call to or from your Fave 5 won't count against your Whenever Minutes .
On the BlackBerry Pearl—and most other phones—the faves icons are always up front unless you disable it. It's a set of five customizable pictures/icons to go along with your callers. To start, you select an empty icon (the ones with a "+" icon) and click.
More after the jump.
Then the Pearl will ask you to either create a new contact or add one from your address book. Type in the name, their phone number, select a picture, and assign a special ring-tone for this person. Once this is done, you'll get a note saying the number is being updated on T-Mobile's servers, which takes just about 5 to 10 seconds to complete. Once that's done, the icon on your phone's splash page will reflect your changes.
You can also turn off the myFaves display from any phone if you don't want it cluttering up your phone's screen. Or if you just want to hide it from your buddies—as seen in the latest T-Mobile TV ad.
Once you have the myFaves added, selecting an icon will give you the option of either giving him a call or sending him an SMS/MMS message. Apologize for the quality of this last picture since I couldn't find a screenshot program that worked with my Pearl and my PC.
