Samsung SGH-A707 Music Playin' Clamshell for Cingular

The Samsung SGH-A707 is on its way to US shores, giving Cingular users an alternative to that ubiquitous Motorola RAZR. This clamshell brings features reaching toward the next level, including a 2-megapixel camera and HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) for quicker downloads. The 17.5mm (2/3 of an inch)-thick phone is tricked out for music, handling Windows Media DRM if necessary and playing back MP3s, AAC + and RealAudio files, too.

While the SGH-A707 has a mildly appealing form factor, it might not be that much of a competitor to the Motorola RAZR. It's not as pretty, and it's fatter, too—the RAZR's 3.6mm thinner at 13.9mm. However, if it can download music faster with its HSDPA capability, those who are stuck with Cingular might find it to be a worthy competitor nonetheless.
