Last week we received a letter. It was from a boy named Sam, who once had a $30 rubber ducky bath radio. He'd take baths with this duck every weekend, auto-scanning to find Casey's Top 40 while his fingers pruned up. It was the greatest time of his life, Sam told us.
But then little B. Duck got sick, and he couldn't take long baths with Sam anymore. So they made a pact. While B. Duck was receiving his radiation treatments, Sam would precariously balance his boombox on the tub—so that no matter where they each were, they could listen to Casey's Top 40 together.
The same week, we received a different letter from B. Duck, explaining that even though treatments had been tough on his mostly plastic shell, having Sam in his life gave him the strength to carry on, and he wanted to let Sam know just how much his friendship meant. So here's a long-distance request from B. Duck to Sam: Total Eclipse Of The Heart by Bonnie Tyler.
