There's apparently more than one man who thinks it's a fantastic idea to strap a home AC unit to a car and drive it around. This Toyota Camry station wagon, snapped by a bug-eyed Jalopnik reader, has the AC strapped on the back, instead of the top, so that it can easily kill whoever's tailgating behind him if the driver ever decides to cut the attachment rope. This is easily the second worst looking Toyota Camry model we've ever seen—the first being every other Toyota Camry on the road. [Jalopnik]

Oh geeze, lookitthis!
What happens when it rains?
Unsafe at any speed...
i'm fairly sure you can't obstruct the back window like that in any state.
@Paradise: Why not? Some vehicles don't even have back windows (many work vans, pickup trucks with certain caps on them), and you don't need a special license to drive them.
The thing I'm amazed at is that he was able to power it without blowing his alternator (yet).
Ooo. The Escort 8500. Good call.
There are mirror regulations that you need to abide by, but most will be fine with side mirrors.
(crap I've had to deal with when figuring the legalities of taking the doors off my jeep)
It looks like a volvo 740 to me.
Am I the only one concerned that this picture was taken from the driver's seat? On the Interstate? In the left lane?
While the killer tissue box may be a myth, this should do much more damage during a head-on collision
G H E T T O FAB
Is this a trend I should get in front of before I'm left out?
@imajoebob:
Probably.
If you stare long enough you can visualize the camry cutting of the red mustang behind/next to it.
Oh come on why you gotta knock the Camry's. There's way uglier production cars out there.
@imajoebob:
Yeah, we've all done that...
I think Jeff Foxworthy spoke of this breed.
Deffinatly a person that lives in Arkansas.
At least most people in Arkansas can spell, bozo. That would be "definitely." Dork.

@bobman1235: those vehicles you mentioned have side view mirrors designed to compensate for the deficiency of not having a rear window. besides my comment was about the driver blocking the rear window not about how the manufacturer produced the car or truck.
@Volant Performance Parts: Guess he have to put a bed inside plus a shower too!
Thats it! A room for rent.
i'm really curious how he was able to power that using the car. presumably an upgraded alternator? i wonder how it was wired? additional batteries? what kind of battery wiring if using additional batteries... that makes a difference : capacity vs. power... right?
i would hope not just using a cigarette lighter power inverter... right? would that even work? mine goes into "overload" with like a laptop and a camera plugged in. and neither of those is anywhere near as power hungry as an A/C unit.
@x23: Cold Fusion, dude.
I'd have to guess a second alternator dedicated solely to the AC unit. An alternator capable of powering that AC and all of the other needs of the vehicle as well would be pretty expensive, and it's quite obvious this guy is a serious cheapskate.
