Plug this tiny stereo speaker system into your iPod shuffle's plastic box, and you get a mini boom box plus the satisfaction of using something that you'd normally have thrown away. This (slightly) eco-friendly system from Bird Electron also fits inside a first- or second-gen iPod nano box and costs just $40. [Geek Alerts]

One year late for me...
Looks unpowered. Guess it'd be good if you're listening to your shuffle in a very quiet place, and not for very long, because you're probably going to want to crank the volume all the way up to get any sound out of it.
That box isn't cramped, so add an amp, champ!
Definitely not worth 40 bucks. Those are the same speakers that come in those singing birthday cards.
Not only are you now going to be using something you would have thrown away, but now you'll also be using something you would have never bought in the first place. "Slightly" is putting it way too lightly, if you're talking eco-friendly, since we're talking about more plastic when it comes down to it.
This is like going to a sale at a store you never would have shopped at so that you can "save money".
... this was a 5th grade school project wasn't it?
@nutbastard: Most people don't get that. They're too concerned with "saving money".
