If you had a slap bracelet back in the day (and I am ashamed to admit that I did), you will surely enjoy this concept device from the Chocolate Agency. Imagine a full-fledged multimedia device that can be slapped on and worn like a wristband. It would feature an e-paper surface and a battery that can be recharged using kinetic energy. Unfortunately, imagining it is all you can really do, because this sort of device is a massive pipe dream at the moment. But there is nothing wrong with thinking big. [Yanko Design]

Holy crap! It's just missing lasers! Common pre-order, common!!! Want! WANT!!!!
While we're dreaming... Let's also give it a GPS map-display, a clock, a thermometer, an emergency beacon locator, and a set of "you are not Morg or Eymorg" pain/delight giving buttons.
Even without the multimedia functions this would be awesome as a watch or wearable digital picture frame. Want. Now please.
This reminds me of my flying submarine that's small enough to fit in my garage and runs on candy and farts.
Of course it's wildly impractical, it doesn't exist and couldn't ever be built, but maybe if I say I'm a designer and call it a concept I'll get some free publicity.
I would program it to display serrated edges so that there's a legitimate reason as to why my wrists are bleeding
A battery that can be recharged using kinetic energy?! Come on! That's being realistic!
This bracelet needs to be powered by a cold fusion energy source that can connect to your house and keep the porch lights on in the event of blackouts.
Yanko... you're slipping.
Hmm.
No neon colors and geometric patterns?
What kind of slap bracelet is this anyway?
Even if the first one's are just black and white, they will sell. I'd love something like this to have a useful purpose like in hospitals, so that it could boldly state allergies to medications, etc...
Wow, slap bracelets....... that's one of those fads that I had completely forgotten about until this post. But now that I think about it I do remember everybody having them, along with their hypercolor t-shirts.
@someToast: Well, they do presume that I want to wear pictures of some black dude on my wrist. That's fairly unrealistic.
Make it a little wider like those ginormous men's watch bands that were popular in the 70's and you caould also use this thing as a book reader to peruse novels and stuff on the train or on the beach.
But really, the most obvious use has been overlooked. When this thing has color capabilty it can become a Mood Bracelet!
What capacities do they come in? 1 and 2 terabytes?
Oh, wouldn't it be nice :)
I remember these things! Yea, they used to cut the hell out of your wrists if you wore them too long. Seriously, like inside, was like a long, jagged strip of circulation cutting, skin breaking aluminum.
But would I get one that could talk back, shoot a face reconstructing lazer, double as a comm. device, and let me play tetris? Hell yea! Either that or a Finglonger.
This needs to be made NOW, not next gen, not next year, not even tomorrow, I NEED THIS NOW!
Even if this were just the watch it would be sweet! Great concept!
It would exclude christians from wearing it though, I hear they aren't allowed to be gay.
Of course this would be an advantage in this case.
AH MAN!!!!!!!! This thing is BAD ASS!!!!!!!!!!
@TonyTriple: "... aluminum."
spring steel if i remember correctly what it looked like. when straightened, same curved shape as your tape measure .
a hypothetical feature set is missing from this hypothetical wonder-machine. Indestructible, anti-scratch, anti-smudge, anti-dent "glass". Everyone here would hear the world's loudest "DOH!" when I accidentally hit my wrist against a counter's edge or door frame...
I like thinking big. Fat chicks need love too. But I'm gonna need a bigger bracelet.
Awesome! This will go right next to my lava lamp and cassette player.
I need one so I can be the coolest kid on the playground, cooler than that kid with all the ALF Pogs!
this design concept has already been thought up... Nokia 888.
