The card reader wars have a new champion, so take a seat Mr. 62-in-1 reader from earlier this month. You now officially suck thanks to this 80-in-1 reader from iMono. It supports just about everything, including SDHC, MMC4.2, CF4.0, micro SDHC and mini SDHC. It also had an average read speed of 32.6MB/s and an average write speed of 24.4MB/s when tested with a Sandisk Extreme IV. Plus, it measures about 4" x 1" x .5"—making it extremely portable. And the best part is that it will only set you back $17. [Product Page via GetUSB]

Holy shit...
its missing P2 and SxS
You mean it doesn't come with a pop-out knife, scissors, file, toothpick and saw as well?
there's 80 types of storage mediums?!
@CODIFEROUS: More like less than a dozen "types" of storage mediums, each with different variations in "specs".
EX) SDHC is a higher version of SD....They're both SD tho...just that some new products support the SDHC. Sort of like Blu-Ray and DVD...they're both optical discs...just with more "capacity".
And the best part is that this gadget is WHITE!!! Yea.
maybe i'll connect that to my macbook air!
but wait, that leaves no space for my iphone...wait a second, ill just take out the SD car...
nope...
but I need a 82 in 1 card reader.. :(
Man, if an alien race were to see this, they would ask themselves why we fucktards made so many formats in the first place.
Perhaps I am a bit slow but who needs these things? Who has more than a few types of memory lying around? Who has 40 types let alone 80? This seems to me a case of doing it because they can not because there is a need.
Wheres the 5-1/4 floppy drive?
God cant the world make 1 memory stick format.
I remember sticking a ms duo in my laptop thinking that it would except it (it said 5 in 1) and it jammed. I had to take it to a store to remove. Now the reader wont even work
Nice now I can never use the excuse "sorry I dont have a reader for your minidisc"
Nope! this uses a regular sized USB connector not the little mini one on the AIR!
So, $17? How much is shipping from Hong Kong???
Just think how much thought went into this! 'Hmmmm, we need to think of 80 different storage types to make this gadget work.' I'm with McLucky..I really don't think thousands of people begged them to come up with a device that reads 80 different storage types.I think they drank too much MD and ate way too many Gorditas and this was the result. ;)(Although I am just a little impressed..lol)
no xD, no want. my computer's built-in reader already handles every format (floppy included, because windows does tend to crash.....a lot) except for SDHC and xD, and i don't use SDHC cards so i don't fucking care.
although for the price, this thing is a steal. just get rid of that goofy iMono logo on it, we've already got enough iWannabee gadgets in our lives.
@skeptic:
durr, the air has a 'regular sized usb connector', doctor obvious.

@nya-chama:
So true LOL.
Are there 80 different types of formats out there. Well it guess there is if this is out, but I honestly didn't know there were that many around.
I'm holding out for the 150-in-1 reader kit.
Coming soon from Radio Shack...
Ordered in white.
Thanks for the tip Sean.
Hey I have to tell you that I ordered the LAST iMono card reader you featured here on Gizmodo maybe a year or two ago and it's been really great!
They ship pretty fast too.
I might also consider this one as well (black for me thanks) since I just ordered an 8GB SDHC card for my GPS and I don't think the old reader will cut it for SDHC.
They're both SD tho...just that some new products support the SDHC. Sort of like Blu-Ray and DVD...they're both optical discs...just with more "capacity".
@rubu: Actually the more accurate comparison would be to Sony's Memory Stick transition that happened a few years back.
Originally Memory Sticks only went to 128MB, then the MS Pro Standard came out.
It was a big pain in the butt back then too, as I was just in time for that stuff to be going down while I was into Sony's Palm OS handhelds at the time.
Lucky me, here to see it happening again today with all my SD stuff. :\
@ideaman2020: stole my joke, except I was going to say 2,000-in-1
I second that comment STRIDER_MT2K. I bought the original Gizmodo posted as well and it's rock solid. I've tested all the cards it supports except the SIM card slot (since I'm pimped out to Verizon and get no GSM love) and they always work flawlessly.
And RIMPLESTULTSKIN it's my understanding you can get rid of pretty much any screen printed logo off plastic by gently rubbing a sugar cube on the logo. The sugar is abrasive enough to remove the label without scratching the plastic.
wheres the USB port?...seriously i think if a periferal uses a USB port up it should supply us with another.
That's cheaper than my $19 dollar 21-in-1 internal and lousy $20 external 19-in-1 :( lol
Pleaseeeeeee make a standard format...I've got SD, CF, MMC, and MS Duo hanging around ffs...
@rimplestultskin: Actually, looking at the product page, it appears that xD is supported... but still no floppy.
ooh i wants. only because i'm sick of using cables to transfer stuff from my gadgets rather than direct from the card.
