The frequencies it works on: (GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 or UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA 900/1700/1900/2100 MHz or UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA 850/1700/1900/2100 MHz).
I'm not sure I can get over the Windows Mobile heart of this phone. The first error message I see will ruin it for me.

Why 400 MB? Kind of weird...
Windows ehh no thanks. phone is pretty sexy though!
Hmm true 440mb is kinda weird! but runs windows @_@
This makes me want to cry because I'm stuck with Verizon which uses CDMA and is locked down like no other, so even if I could get it, it would have one of Verizon's OSs which revolve around V-Cast which is worthless shit.
@WolfDemon: I have the Samsung I760 on verizon and I love it...i agree most (almost all) of the verizon phones blow big time, but if you looking for a very nice windows mobile device with tons of functionality, the i760's where its at...resembles this sony ericsson too
zomg! as soon as my contract ends, the phone comes out, and i get my self a scripting job to pay for the thing, i am getting it right away
I already love this thing!! How much is it?!
So, do those little dancing rectangles represent application windows?
the windows part of it just makes it effectively a no for me... I agree it looks great otherwise and seem to pack quite some punch
@Gbirrueta: As long as the front end they design covers most of WM functions, this will be awesome. The idea of skinning WM with a XMB like interface seems smart and very Sony-like (from one of the images seen). IE mobile is complete ass, though.
Looks a little large, but definitely worth it for the slide-out keyboard.
The GFX engine seems pretty polished and smooth. I wonder what chip they are using. And it has a really nice resolution (800x480).
3D games? Is this the phone-PSP hybrid that was rumored for such a long time? Cant wait to hear how good its going to be as a gaming phone.
MicroSD? Regular SD-HC would be much better.
I am impressed by the looks, but wont be when i see the price.
@diabolusunknown: I take back the size comment. Its about as large as a regular cell-phone, with smart-phone capability.
Now im really worried about the price.
it have EVERYTHING that I could want.. so WHY does it run windowz WHY Ahhhhhhh this could be an iphone killer SONY DESIGN YOUR OWN INTERFACE
OMFG. That is amazing.
1700Mhz UMTS. That means T-Mobile. YAY!!!!
I wish verizon would sign a contract with sony, that would be superb because their phone selection is incredibly weak. Windows is kind of lame but id like to go hands on with it first.
I want a PSP phone.
@THX5334:
skype...
umm.... is this a spoof? cuz when did SE run windows and wth happen to symbian?
I see the no WinMo bandwagon is predictably up and rolling.
The application windows interface is a nice touch and it looks like you can assign your own windows to be displayed.
I'm not too convinced about its real world looks, i'd prefer one uniform colour.
Being a Sony product, the price may also be an issue.
All in all, a very good effort for their first WinMo device. A powerful platform that needed a major frontend overhaul.
is it sad that the thing I'm most impressed by is the MicroSD slot?
I think its 3.0 cam... as we can clearly see on the picture
"X1 lets you choose from a dynamic range of activities at anytime and anywhere"
Their marketing speech is awesome. They have no idea what they are writing about, but as long as hype words fit in, it's OK. Dynamic range of activities, righty...
Dear S-E,
Android. I'll buy 3.
Shuft
PS Who am I kidding, you had me at qwerty.
Going to a sony ericsson press event in 8 hours, hope they have some more details on this and not just the boring phones.
This actually looks like my next phone, has everthing i need in a phone, cant live without windows mobile...
Wonder how fast this is and what cpu/gpu they use.
@THX5334: Me too, but this thing looks real nice.
I like it, but would like to hear more on the processor and price. I won't be first to jump on this bandwagon. (Hey, it'll work in Japan!) Wonder if the FM freqs go low enough to work here too.
that is a sweet design. good job sony.
Are you sure it has a microSD slot and not an M2 slot? It wouldnt make sense for Sony to not use one of their propietary memory cards in any thing they make.
@windowi: Agreed windows mobile is crap and they could have made their own interface though it does have a big software library which could be a selling point.
Well, finally someone designed a phone with XPERIA™ panels! I've been waiting for a phone with XPERIA™ panels for years...
Why, why would Sony ruin this with Windows? Otherwise this thing looks VERY hot. Like the hipper cousin of Nokia E90.
It does look sexy, chances of it sliding into T-Mobile, not likely. I'm out of luck.
Thats a really cool design.
I mean i would like to hear more about the processor which is probably a 300ghz processor or maybe a 400mhz or 500mhz to go against the meizu phone.
Hopefully this is around 450ghz-700ghz
if it is above 400mhz i'll buy it
this phone since it has a touch UI interface should be pushing atleast 128mb ram hopefully sony isnt cheap and put in atleast 256mb.
Small frame but sony likes makinq their products run smooth, and swift.
@SneakerFiend: I mean 300mhz
450-70mhz srry lolz
This Phone has a 520MHZ processor
" The X1's specs include, basically, everything. Quad-band EDGE plus quad-band HSDPA 7.2 with HSUPA? Check. Wi-Fi and GPS? Check. A 3.2-megapixel camera with DVD quality video playback and capture? Check. FM radio, Bluetooth stereo, and GPS? You bet. It's all powered by a 520-MHz ARM11 processor running Windows Mobile 6. In short, this thing screams."

you put that in your browser without the bracket obviously and you get the page.
I love sony. because it is one of the best phones without windows mobile. too bad this ruins that a little.
WTF makes this a Hiptop killer? How is this really any different than any other Windows Mobile slideout QWERTY, other than the fancy panel app?
love the music. now can i get this phone so that i can use EVERY feature without paying extra?
@windowi:
A touch screen does not constitute as an interface. They have been round for years. Panels is Sony's own interface which each panel is an application window. the iPhone uses icons. Your argument suggests that the iPhone copies desktop icons!
Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring Bananaphone!
it would be droolworthy with symbian touch.
ok now where's the OS? A hardware is nothing without a decent OS (see iPhone).
@Galley:
not cool...waking captain balanet like that all prematurely
@Stacky Botrus: Wow Sony decided to not add their "fastport" onto it...
This is the most un-SE phone SE ever made. At least it gives promise that maybe SE might be making phones more varied now...
its expensive :(
