Making your face presentable for high definition is tough, which is why the makeup brand Cargo is carrying a "blu_ray" brand makeup—trademarked, no less—that's supposed to cover up any Cameron Diaz-level skin problems. It's unlikely that Sony will be pleased that someone's calling dibs on a brand they spent billions on building, but since this is in the makeup space, they might be SOL. We're sure Cargo's glad they don't have to make an "hd_dvd" branded makeup kit. [Sephora via Boing Boing Gadgets]

Will using a well established media brand name actually do anything for a makeup line?
Contrary to what I can only assume is a popular belief, somewhere -
Americans will in fact know the difference between a blank DVD and a lipstick tube.
(at least I hope so)
Work in tech support long enough and you will soon realize the flaw in your logic.
Your faith in the average american is misplaced.
Walmart has HD-DVD makeup on clearance. (<--- predictable)
Damn! And I was looking forward to the HD DVD / Blu Ray Make-up wars_
Sigh, and my Assfire-Magenta makeup line sits on the shelves :'(
Screw that, I'll stick with the BetaMax eye-liner, LaserDisc lipstick combo.
I'm scared of the chemicals that make it "ultrasmooth" in high definition.
how many of us are in front of HD cameras all day?
Just add airbrush.
What kind of laser does it use
Doesn't anyone use VHS mascara anymore?
I worked in tech support for a good 10 years... I have no faith in humanity, especially Americans
BUT
come on.
One is flat, round and shiny. One is a cylinder, round and shin...
dammit!
Someone is going to look really silly returning that PS3 with eyeliner stuck in the drive.
Everyone knows that in the future everyone will download their makeup...
Cargo make-up kinda sucks, really. Granted, it's not the most expensive thing in Sephora, there are much, much better brands in there.
And the average American woman (or fella who has a thing for foundation) will say, "Ooooh, blu-ray! I've heard of that. It's tech-y. This must be a good product."
Cargo = full of guano for this one.
Somewhere Cameron Diaz is crying and vigorously scrubbing the skin from her face and hands in a bathroom. Nice going, guys.
