As well as showing high-tech cellphones at MWC 2008, Nokia also demoed their green tech concept, the "Remade." The clamshell phone has an outer shell made from recycled aluminum cans, a chassis made of plastic from drink bottles and rubber parts made from old car tires. Even its screen and circuit board use techniques like printed electronics to minimize environmental impact. Vincent from Phonemag got some hands-on time and shot a video—find it below the gallery.
Although it's a very appealing design, the Remade is just a non-functioning concept. There is, however, nothing to stop its ideas being used by the world's handset manufacturers. [Phonemag]

I'm not suprised.
In all secotrs of the industry people are seeming to push "eco-friendly" products.
Take biodiesel or electric cars for example. They exist, they work, they could be mass produced.
Companies just make them plain ugly so people wont want them.
Same with this phone.
The aluminium is fine, replace the other plastics with a darker color and you've got yourself a kickass phone.
Now it just looks plain, and will stay that way.
Great idea! I hope they go mainstream ASAP with this. It probably could decrease the cost of making new phones.
I'd buy one, even if it doesn't look amazing. After all, I love Nokia phones, I love recycled products, therefore, I shall love this freaking offspring of Finnish neuron-bashers as well.
So what happens to it when it gets thrown away?
@desostros: "Companies just make them plain ugly so people wont want them."
Take a look at the Tesla Roadster ;)
I'm all about some recycled grooviness, but dang, that thing looks like it's straight out of Logan's Run.
@FredicvsMaximvs: LMAO it was shat out by Box.
Eh, the idea is nice, so are the looks, but that doesn't seem very... Nokia to me. Seems like something that might come out of Asia.
looks hot =)
put wifi in it and i buy
Eco friendly = good
Design = FUGLY. Just like most stuff NOK puts out.
seriously, whats with the thai food brown? they could have made it black and it would have been much nicer
Lots of products have components made from recycled aluminum and plastic. You don't have to advertise it.
I like the outside but the inside isn't so great >.>
External display pls...
Make it a slider or candy bar and I'm in.
@desostros: Yeah, they put that uber green thing to yell: Hey I'm using a cheapo eco-something phone so people will notice. They should make these kind of products like the other ones, so the impact would be minor to none.
