This concept desk looks like standard Ikea fare upon first glance, but a closer examination reveals a recessed middle that's contoured for a custom Samsung laptop to dock into. Once locked in, the laptop keyboard sits flush with the rest of the desk, bringing new meaning to the term desktop PC. A novel idea, but I'd be more sold on the idea if it included connections to external accessories, like hard drives and speakers, when you docked the computer into the desk. Interesting and possibly useful concept, but the table looks like a sparse POS.
The desk itself doesn't seem like it would serve more than just for computer use. I mean, sure, you can have the top turned over for other surface use. But if you want the computer, do you just swat all of your stuff out of the way?
The levitating laptop looks like a new concept.
This will make that inevitable cola spill so much more tragic.
Meh, Id rather have what I have now which is a shelf on my desk where my dock sits and I drop my dell into it to make it work with all of the full size bits.
can we sit on it?
And...when the time comes to replace your laptop with another, newer model? I guess you're stuck with a less than impressive piece of over priced crap.
uuuuh heat?
Now not only will you have to buy a new laptop after two years because it is obsolite but you will also have to buy a new desk. (cuz trust me the new ones will not fite in the old style) awesome! ill take two.
@j4sk868: then it must be a Mac
It just doesn't seem practical at all, if a laptop is built for being compact and portable, whats the point of making a docking station for it?
Along with that the table looks so simple its almost obnoxious... this new age style is leaving me behind in a smoke of dust...
before I get all the Mac Hater comments can't you guys lighten up and take a leeeetle joke :-)
@flyboy:
Macs are NO laughing matter ...
HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa
Why isn't there a mouse in the desk too?!
Yanko sucks.
Their designs are never realised nor are they special.
@ANoel:
They are SO a laughing matter!!! I always get a good laugh out of macs.....
@Out2gtcha:
Hater!! Hater, hater, hater, hater!!!!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
So tell me the truth, is Gizmodo in bed with Yanko? I keep seeing this Yanko Design crap here. Who really gives a F-ck? I want to see "real world" gadgets and gizmos, not some "imagined" hyperbole.
Please. Post real stuff we can use or will use. Not some 3D poster of a designer's render wet dream.
@SigmundTheSeaMonster: someone's friend works there. don't you know?
whty can't Yanko drop an expensive camera for their fame?
@flyboy: Ohhh! I got it!!! Wink wink. nudge nudge. Say no more. (feels really small...oops shrinkage...)
@flyboy:
perhaps if that "joke" wasn't made in every thread that mentions computers... i think it outranks all your base, will it blend and doom combined.
I prefer this one, which looks like it might actually be making it into production (but then we've heard that before haven't we!).
