According to English Russia, this special PC is used to work on fuel "connected directly to the car's gas tank." Hmmm. Apparently "it analyzes the state of the fuel and diagnoses the overall condition of the car, while consuming some gas fluid." Possibly even without detonating and killing everyone nearby. There are more pics in the gallery, shedding more light on the thing, but there's no monitor, keyboard or mouse, and you never really see the drives in action either. Even the backside looks something fishy, and there's no obvious combustion engine either. What's your expert opinion? And what are the chances that this whole brilliant scheme will at some point combust all to hell? [English Russia]

MPG? (Megs per Gallon)
it looks like a joke to me.
But then again who am I to question the genius of giz writers.
Love seeing technology getting greener
It's at best some kinda analyser but it's quite clearly got a plug on it so there's no way that it's a petrol powered computer, it wouldn't tell you the condition of the car it would tell you the condition of the petrol that you're using which might be a concern if you're buying your "Gas" from Boris's cheapo gas station.
Don't know where the output comes from. Maybe it talks.....mmmmmm that's some tasty gas-holine!!
If it were a Mac I'm sure quite a few fanbois would run out and buy it.
I had this idea a while back. Gas powered generator providing all the power. And to overclock you would just downshift! ;)

They need to hook that pc up to this.
@DaOtter: LMFAO!
Gotta say... It's a lazy man who claims to have a gas powered PC and doesn't remove the friggin power cord running from the car's battery to the back of the power supply.
And if its getting power only from the car, what the hell is he pouring into the funnel?
I doubt it's petrol-powered... Even less likely it could analyze the quality of said petrol, doesn't have a chromatograph or anything.
Looks like a 386!
bollocks me thinks
I especially like the Volga badge on the casing.. I was out in Moscow, and Volgas generally have exhausts that seem to blow *INTO* the car, so you slowly get gassed while you sit in traffic. I arrived at my hotel many a time nauseous and light headed.
where's my comment ?!
This ain't a computer! That device is used to charge the cars battery! You can see it is hooked up to the cars battery in pic 4....
there it is
there's no ports in the back at all that are computer worthy. I'm guessing it's just a rubber gas tank that someone shoved into a case so it's less likely to go BOOM.
I think I'll need to take this gas home to test it. Step one: Steal gas under pretense of testing. Step Two: Step three: Profit!
Complete hoax (as far as computing goes)
1) Already noted - electrical supply
2) Already noted - NO data output
3) Notice back of computer - no keyboard, monitor, or data ports. In fact, no anything. More than likely, no motherboard.
4) Intake hose, outflow hose, power supply, reserve fuel tank(cap)? Hmmm . . .
My guess is that someone modded a PC case to hold a fuel pump so they could siphon gas without being noticed. When they are caught, they explain that they are with Boris' Cheapo Gas (thanks for that one JJ), and they are providing free fuel analysis for random vehicles.
Of course everyone knows that the IEEE port would provide much better throughput than the LPT port! Silly Russians.
Engrish Lussia morelike. I wouldn't take anything on that site too seriously.
Ooo, I wonder if this technology can be utilized to diagnose my ailments from this coffee I'm about to drink. Promising!
@gizmofo: I arrived at my hotel many a time nauseous and light headed.
I've been there, brother! It just wasn't vehicle related.
Like anyone really needs this with gas prices they way they are today!
Can anyone say Fuel Cell?
ok, so assuming this gets some power from the petrol, how? there's def. no internal combustion engine on that thing, and if there was, it would still need an alternator to feed the power to the computer's PSU (which i add, has a fuel line through it.
also, why would you want to use a seperate reservoir to "power" it, when it's got fuel coming in and going out all the time?
looks to me like a fancy case for a fuel pump, with a cheap strap and a light and a couple dials added.
Next I would like computer that runs on clipped toenails. Or baby kitties...
OR a really creative way to steal gas.... "Hey I will analyze that gas for you, just to check its its PURE, make sure they didnt rip you off on the octane level, just let me syphon a little out here......"
Hit the right parking lot and I see a free tank of gas here.
Who the freak uses a tin can to hold their gas in. Don't they have portable plastic gas cans in Russia...
...I suggest pairing with an exploding Li+ battery.
boom?
