Some of the same kind of health telemetry that the French army may be using could be yours in the new VitalJacket product. It's a smart T-shirt with a built-in electrocardiogram monitor, designed for both medical diagnostics and sports fitness uses. It's supposed to be less awkward than conventional devices, as well as more comfortable. The HWM200 version sends data on the wearer's heart over a Bluetooth link to a phone or PDA, allowing real-time monitoring. The 100 version stores it on an SD card for later analysis on a PC and allows the wearer to define heart rate limits which trigger a vibration alarm in the shirt. Both editions are available for pre-order for around $635. [Vitaljacket via Talk2myshirt]

Thanks to this technology you'll know exactly the right time for your body to surrender.
What? Too soon?
The French have an army?
The most use this will get is when a woman walks by and their horny little French hearts start racing as the blood flow changes course.
No seriously, they have an army?
It's not really an army, it's more a gaggle of smelly guys, saying "oui, oui" as they run from everyone.
I'd actually buy this if it wasn't over $100. Current heart rate monitors freaking suck to wear, plus with the type of microfiber this is made of, and it being tight, it'll force my body to sweat more when I run.
No snoody comments here, that's actually a good, yet highly overpriced device (but what isn't grossly overpriced?).
I am pondering why they didnt just go ahead and make it in white. (Snooty but I couldnt pass it up.)
hey, americans, didnt france help you out when you guys stuck it to the brits?

Wireless transmissions have there problem. I can just see a enemy force using this against the french army. They would know exactly when the soldiers are at their most frightened state, and therefore when to attack...
@Finstern:
not to sound ungrateful, but that was a different french government with completely different values... that government fell via a internal revolution soon after they helped out ours... ironic if you ask me...
@Finstern: You say "stuck it to the brits" like we screwed them over. Silly American's, wanting to govern themselves.
@Curves: if it came in white, you'd quickly acquire sweat stains and make it look nasty. I do agree though, it would look nice in white, and actually keep you slightly cooler.
@Finstern: The only reason they helped us in our revolution was that they hated the Brits more than we did. As the saying goes..."The enemy of my enemy is my friend". That and all that French territory that they didnt want the English to get, which we bought from Napolean later anyway....
@GOKOR: Actually I suggested white so they could use it as a surrender flag.
@Curves: I thought they helped b/c Mel Gibson's son got killed, and that showed them how sincere we are.
@Curves: You're right, French people suck.
@Curves: I thought everybody understood that was what you meant. LOL
@Sergeant JoKer: I thought so too, but its Monday morning and sometimes stuff flies right over the collective consciousness on Mondays. Or maybe he is French. (Or maybe the fact that 90% of the population never "gets" my jokes anyway.)
@Curves: Don't worry, most of my jokes go right over people's heads too. Sounded to me like you were talking about the actual garment, not making a joke.
@Curves: I thought we did the French Army jokes last week. Didn't you get the text message?
@ripfire4: Blame Strider, he started it. I just hopped on the french joke bandwagon.
Besides, any nation or culture that behaves that way is asking for it. Yes, mine too.
