The main complaints about the current Nike+ Gear aren't that it doesn't do a good job keeping track of how far you run, it's that it doesn't measure stuff like heart rate, body temperature and other factors runners care about. Nike hears you. Their latest patent for upcoming Nike+ gear expands on the current concept and features all kinds of sensors over a person's body, even possibly adding a GPS receiver so you can automatically map out the path you took on your run.
What's even better for people who live in cold places or don't like to run outside (me) is that there are sensors for talking to exercise machines to fetch data. The only downside? Nike's slow-ass development cycle means you're not going to see this for another year or two. Seriously. Some of these leaked Nike products back from January 2007 still haven't been released. you don't want to know where the temperature probe goes...
What a coincidence. I was just shopping for heart rate monitor a few minutes ago. What I really want is a monitor that communicates wirelessly with that iPhone training application that was mentioned here a few weeks ago (the one that doesn't actually exist yet). I guess I should hold out a while and see what happens.
What I really need is a fitness system that understands the binary language of Moisture Vaporators.
Judging by the illustration, this is designed for ugly, hairless elves that run in pointy clippers & spandex jacked up the ass crack?
@johnnyabnormal: You know thats what poeple start to look like when they do that execise thingy!
you have been warned stay away from it...
They have to have GPS integrated into this. The Nike+ is so pathetic that its basically just a glorified pedometer - cant hold a candle to any of the real running watches by Garmin or Polar. If Nike is serious about getting into this business, and they appear to be, they MUST have gps integrated into their system. Now whether this is through a watch like the Garmin 305 or an add-on to your ipod I dont know. All I know is I run with the Garmin 305 and tried the Nike+ a few times - its a joke.
And no, the main complaint I hear from any serious runner that has run with this is that it does a shite job of knowing how far you've run.
there's a site that integrates your ipod and running stats . its called www.runnerplus.com i'm a member there
