Reader LindsayJoy just received her Indiana Jones and the Lost Tomb LEGO set, complete with snakes, the Lost Ark, snakes, Marion, snakes, Indy, snakes (I hate snakes,) and a special piece we didn't notice the first time we saw the first production set photos: a piece with the hieroglyphic engravings of R2-D2 and C-3PO in the Well of Souls, just like in the movie. [Update: actually, not like in the movie. As a reader has pointed out in the comments, it's Leia putting the Death Star plans in R2-D2 as C-3PO watches, like at the beginning of A New Hope.]

Most big fans of the series and Star Wars know that both R2-D2 and C-3PO appear in several occasions in Raiders of the Lost Ark. In the Well of Souls, which is the moment portrayed by this set, they appear in a post on Indy's right as him and Sallah remove the Ark.

Great detail from LEGO and good catch by Lindsay. [Thanks Lindsay]

Awww man, why is there a LEGO blocking a perfectly good picture of LindsayJoy?
@Hiphopopotamus: Seconded!
Geez, whose the droids' agent? They're whoring themselves out all over the place:

Great plug!
Awesome!
I love this kind of attention to detail!
I just picked up a box of Lego (and NON Lego) the size of a coffee table from my nephew who had it in his attic.
I only began the sorting process yesterday, and have been doing it in small steps.
There are a LOT of fake Lego pieces, and of course a ton of other random crap (like about 80 super balls) but when the sorting is done I'm looking forward to building some cool stuff.
I feel like such a geek failure for never even knowing that that was in the movie.
Talk about a great continuing story thread. Since Star Wars was a Long time ago, there could be books/cartoons about how R2-D2 and C-3PO has been involved in various important events throughout time. Just hitchhiking their way across the universe...I've not trademarked this idea FYI :-)
@trampas: Yeah - George Lucas has !!
.
Actually, looking at the calendar, it seems to be more of a Cinco de Mayo egg.
@Hiphopopotamus:
I honestly didn't expect this, I'm quite flattered. Always great so show something like this to Jesus + the giz staff + all the great readers who appreciate it!
Next time I have lego news I'll do a pick without the bricks blocking me...
@uberfu:
And really Uberfu, those periods make me sick, you are taking a hair of happiness away from my great moment!
What I want to know is if it comes with an included sheet of clear perspex to ensure the lego snakes have no real chance of biting the lego Indy.
I wonder if R2, that stinking alcoholic, drinks at Club Obi Wan (watch Temple of Doom again).
@LindsayJoy: no love for the seconders =o*(
@P3nnst8r:
All I can do is try! Besides maybe not everyone will agree with you, unless of course its a bad story...
mmm Cinnamon Toast Crunch...
@LindsayJoy: Lindsay send a "Picture update" without that thing covering your beautiful face also get a little farther back to see more of you.
@shoeless:
mmmmm Cinnamon Toast Crunch is right! My favorite sweet cereal.....
You guys didn't know about this before? Geez, I could have submitted this back in January (um...you're aware that Jock's plane in the big set is sporting the OB-CPO id#, right?). BTW, it's not a piece, but a sticker. Specifically, a STAMP, or STicker Across Multiple Parts/Pieces.
Just picked up the Jungle Duel Indy IV set last night, BTW. Apparently they're not supposed to be on sale until Friday.
@Purple Dave:
Everyone here knows thats a sticker over a piece. Don't even imply that Jesus doesn't know that or he will put you in your place big time.
Oh and I guess you didn't submit this in January, so you don't get the credit.
I can't see that well, but isn't that a depiction of the scene in A New Hope with princess Leia giving R2 the Death Star plans?
Also @Gutterisatool, I feel like a failure as well, I always recognized the sounds but never an R2 or C3P0, will wikipedia it up now.
@LindsayJoy: 'Everyone here knows thats a sticker over a piece.'
I didn't know, I'm devastated.
I was sat here thinking it was a tiny LCD screen that played a line-drawing version of Episode 4 on a loop...
@Hiphopopotamus: It's covering the 5:00 shadow ...
@LindsayJoy: So, busy this weekend ;)
@GeekyNerdGuy:
I will prove you wrong asshole.
@LindsayJoy: why oh why did I know that was coming next?
@potohead1: Dude, what do you think this is? Sexcam online? Get a life or get banned.
@ice_cold_irony: you are totally right.
@Jesus Diaz: well, one wonders ;)
Hmm? You guys haven't noticed that? Woohoo! I'm the one with the eagle eyes for once! But thanks for putting up that movie still, always wondered where that hieroglyphic was. Reminds me all about the new movie rumors (aliens).
@LindsayJoy:
@LindsayJoy:
Wait...you got Star Commentator status? Acting like that? Wow.
@Mr.Wilson:
There's another one at floor level somewhere, according to production photos that can be found on the official website, but I've yet to find information that can actually place that within movie context. Heck, it's even possible that the image is taken from the Peruvian temple.
@Jesus Diaz:
It's not, really. The character on the left is just a run-of-the-mill depiction of an ancient Egyptian (note the total lack of headbuns). The character on the right is C-3PO, as seen by the vertical line bisecting his head. That and the fact that all of the actual movie SW heiroglyphs are restricted to the two droids. It's a lot easier to see the details in person.
@Purple Dave:
Well I'm quite flattered with the star too, but the Giz doesn't mind snarky comments (see Nutbastard for reference). Besides, I was defending the readers and Mr. Diaz.
By the way, they covered this story on TheForce.net, which is a very popular star wars site, and one of my ex's read it and sent me a note. That was quite cool.
@LindsayJoy:
ok no need to be sad, i have now officially commented... yet neglected to actually comment.
@nutbastard:
You made up for it!
