We knew that there was a motorized, fully-articulated R2-D2 projector with built-in DVD, iPod dock, all kinds of digital media inputs, and Millennium Falcon remote control, but we never—EVER—imagined it would be so amazingly drooltastic as this video shows. Time to put on your LEGO-made Han Solo jacket or Leia bikini, and buy this thing—because after watching it in action, I don't care about the lack of Full HD support: this thing is absolutely I must have, caress, fondle, and lick all over material. Reaching nerdgasm, however, still costs $2,995. [Star Wars Shop via Star Wars Blog]

Does it come with a charging dock in the style of an X-Wing ? cos that's a must have.
So this is what a dorkgasim is like...
@rshettle: A $2,995 dorkgasm. While it is kind of cool, I imagine the only people buying it are the same ones with the Star Wars themed home theaters. [www.modernhometheater.com]
It looks surprisingly detailed, but for $4,350.00 (€2,799) it damn well better be! Oh yea, and it's not available in the US! [www.exclusivestarwars.com]
@jjlrn1: [shop.starwars.com] has it for $2,995 and says that it ships worldwide.
HO
LY
SHIT
I'll never own one, but I'd like to.
-because I can't remember ever owning a droid...
That is pretty much, one of the most amazing things I've seen in a while. only thing better woudd be for it to start projecting the movie in little blue 3-D display. And have it be choppy and cut back one scene over and over again, until you hit it....
Holy shit..... I,l even give up the inflatable girlfriend to have one of these
Totally Awesome!
Me want, so very much. If I get one of these my life will be complete.
Must sell soul...
You had me at 'Bleep Bleep Bloop!"
THat is, until I saw the tag at the end that said it was made by Nikko.
Remember them? Those people that made that RC Boat you had when you were little that sunk as soon as it hit the water?
Its a marketing video, if its half as awesome as it looks in this video then I want, but chances are its not.
OMFG i need one. Dang that is by far the coolest thing I've seen in along time.
Okay if we all pitch in we can each have it one day of the week...
@strider_mt2k: sure thing... just tell me where I insert my penus
@Sergeant JoKer:
dude wtf at the home theatre!!!! and wow at the r2-d2 T.T i wants one
@fastmike:
Okay if the rest of you pitch in you can each have it one day of the week...
Will it taze my cats when they act up?
Never have I wanted something so much, that I needed so little.
P.S. $2800 seems cheap!
What's up with the huge Millennium Falcon remote control? That just doesn't make any sense at all. It obviously should have been a Light Saber remote, duh. Oh, and it should have Wireless HDMI.
@baltwade: A light saber remote that stores in the R2 unit itself and will shot out on voice command.
@baltwade: I agree. The remote looks a little bulky. You should be able to point the Light Saber to a spot and then hit a button to have the R2 unit go there.
For that price, this thing seems to be seriously lacking in video inputs (judging by the video)
@alex_nyc:
It has a lot of carbon scoring here too.
Looks like it's see some action...
@strider_mt2k: Count me in. Although I'll probably spend my day doing an epic lightsaber dual around it as it plays authentic sounds and music from the movie!
@Sergeant JoKer: That home theater you linked is AWESOME! Who owns that home? I'm stealing the whole damn thing!
@Sergeant JoKer: That site says it ships worldwide, but if it's the same product listed on the other page, it only plays region 2 and 5 DVDs. I couldn't find anything on that site that specified though.
@baltwade: Agreed. I like the light saber remote idea much better...but at least you can't lose that Millennium Falcon remote in the couch cushions!
Any chance of the optional Prncess Lea inflatable doll too ?
Holy shit Luke! That is the coolest shit ever. I am so over star wars it's not even funny, but I would knock over a string of liquor stores to get this! If only it had a chilled Newcastle dispenser and an automated hookah built in too...
I think somebody just made a product thats gonna make them a millionare!
@SgtMac02: No idea who owns the home. It's somewhere in Seattle, so might be one of the MS nerds. I saw something about it on Digg sometime ago, so just did a Google search and it came up. The website has lots of other crazy home theaters also.
I don't know about the regions. Whoever has it first next week can let us know.@strider_mt2k: I just followed the link in the story to the Star Wars blog and followed the info link to the Star Wars Store.
@dremon21: it must be licensed so more spondoolacks for the ranch.
@SgtMac02: Not if I steal it first!
Most amazing thing I've ever seen...and I've shot a cow out of a sling shot!
I'll trade my dog and my car for this. However, I'm not in love with the fact that I have to have it wired up to the sound system.
would gnaw off my own legs for one of these.
@Jesus_Jones: ummm....I'm wondering how you fit a cow INTO a slingshot...let alone shot one out.
@jjlrn1:
I think you can purchase it from Handjobber-Shlonger, in the U.S.
Err, Hammacher-Schlemmer.
Is anyone having problems refreshing Gizmodo? I'm stuck as having the AT&T story as the latest is the first time this happens, I saw this story on the top of the page where they put the popular stories. help
A must-save-yo-cash. I'd consider paying $300 for it. But probably not because projectors are annoying.
Dude! You could buy this and watch porn with it! Leia porn! Oh yeah!
@SgtMac02: Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Say no more!
Is it full sized?
Oh, so close to being able to do the holoprojection....
[my two criteria for any R2 unit]
To whoever buys this: Install a GPS tracking unit in it, this thing will be the object of affection for geeks everywhere..... until the holographic Leia "girlfriend" comes out.
Oh my good god...
@Chester_Copperpot:
Nothing a restraining bolt can't handle...
@ideaman2020: I suppose that is the most effective way to fend off those lousy English "Kniggits"...
@strider_mt2k: And the award for Most Random Star Wars Trivia in the Application of a Gizmodo Post goes to....strider_mt2k!!! Wow, just wow. I had to look that up on Wookieepedia. [starwars.wikia.com]
The ability to project on to the ceiling is a nice touch...
@baltwade: No need for wireless HDMI; just a port where the R2 can interface into and scream "Wwwooooaaaaaooooww!"
This is a well-produced promo, because I saw this thing at CES and wasn't as impressed. Maybe that was because it was in a brightly lit convention room and they were just projecting on a white card -- or is this an updated model?
OH MAN.
NEED.
Assuming I still have my job in a year, this will be had.
I'm sad, and all I have are material possessions. : (
...you complete me...
