After months of unofficial teasing (and well over a year of hanging out overseas) Samsung's U940 Glyde is finally official for Verizon. Besides going all CDMA/EV-DO, the former F700 touchscreener with a QWERTY keyboard packs GPS, a full HTML browser, a gimped 2MP camera, VCAST and all the usual stuff like Bluetooth and microSD support. Oddly, no VCAST TV. If this year old, no-longer-a-fresh pup phone still excites you, it's $249 w/ a two-year contract and $50 rebate. whats the diff between this and the Instinct....aside from the keyboard?

No Wi-fi, no thanks...especially with the new WiMAX announcement going through. I will probably get the Treo 800 (as long as it does not look like the garbage leaked photos) or something along those lines. There will be no need for a data plan for me if WiMAX comes out with an alluring plan.
MY SHORTCUTS... god, thats as stupid as the Voyager's SHORTCUT MENU text. It serves absolutely no purpose and is way too big.
Same UI as Voyager. Same lousy browser?
@ronnsprocket: one of the major difference other than then crappy verizon UI is the lack EVDO-A and the Instinct will come with two batteries out of the box and has a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack
@ronnsprocket: and the instinct has 3 hardware buttons not one, it has a back, home , and phone button.
BUYERS BEWARE! I had this phone for a week and just sold it. It's crap. Buggy UI and hit or miss touchscreen sink this ship.
The QWERTY keyboard was great though.
Maybe i missed it ... but is verizon going to have a phone like this (full screen with QWERTY keyboard) and use windows mobile. My contract is up in august

Nice of illpacin0 to spam all Glyde threads with his drivel. I've had this phone since last friday (was able to preorder by calling VZW) and it's not that bad. The phone itself is very nice, the slider mechanism is top notch. Yes, the touchscreen is somewhat buggy (basically both things illpacin0 says that are bad are the same thing) sometimes it doesn't seem to register that you pressed the screen or the next button pushes instead. This is easily fixed with a firmware update and since this will be a popular phone, i'm sure it will be fixed shortly after it's released, since everyone will be having the same issue. The slide out QWERTY is very nice, good response, easy to type on. call quality is very good as well, my parents commented that they could hear me better than on my old phone (RAZR V3m) web browser is OK, but then again if you are buying a phone like this to do heavy web surfing you are stupid...get an iphone or wimmo smart phone. It is an HTML browser, it does render pages pretty well, it's pretty fast from what I've seen so far. I did a speed test on DSLreports.com and got an average speed of about 500k/s so the EVDO is pretty fast (it's not REV A) Overall, it's a nice phone, good competitor to the Voyager.
Side note to my comment above ... I prefer Samsung phones as well. Any thoughts
