If your room is as messy as mine and these cable holders and midget wires aren't helping reduce the clutter of tangled wires, maybe it's time to try the $10 Sling Back universal wire retractor.
The Sling Back is apparently "cake" to use: Simply open the magnetic case, snap in the wire—which includes any sort of cord that is up to 1/8'' in diameter—and tug on it to make your cable instantly retract. Currently, the gadget will be available next week in just one color (orange) and size, so I think I'm going to wait for one that's even smaller because although it's retractable, try imagining 10 of these lined up by your laptop on your desk.
