Samsung Sets New Guinness World Record For Fastest Texting Ever, In A Commercial

Samsung's Omnia II handset was the first phone to feature Swype, the super-fast input method for texting. It's now officially the world's fastest way to text, breaking the Guinness World Record with five seconds to spare.

Check it out in the video below, where Swype's intern Franklin Page set the new record for the fastest text created, at 35.54 seconds. Guinness always uses the same message for texting records:

"The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human."

The previous record for the fastest message was 40.91 seconds. While Swype's only available on the Samsung phone for now, it's expected to come pre-loaded in an unnamed Android phone, due for launch this year. [Seattle Times via Recombu]
