With rather lofty ambitions, LG has said it hopes to sell 1 million 3DTVs this year, securing it 25 per cent of the market. The LX9500 model was announced yesterday as going on sale May, when it could cost $4,000 if it's anywhere near a direct conversion from the Korean price. (Though a retailer has contacted me saying it's already in their system as $3,599.99.)
Panasonic's TC-P50VT20 plasma set is already on sale at Best Buy for $2,499, and two Samsung models (the 46" UN-46C7000 and the 55" UN-55C7000) joined them just this week for $2,399 and $2,969. Sony's launch is scheduled for June, and they've already promised they'll be cheaper than Panasonic's—though as we've said before, you'd be far better off with a plasma than an LCD 3DTV.
