Apple Refunds All iPad Rush Shipping Charges

It looks like Apple has decided to refund all rush shipping charges for iPad pre-orders after we noted that Apple was charging $12 for the same delivery day as free shipping.

It's not exactly clear why rush shipping was offered in the first place, since all pre-orders were due to be delivered on launch day. Of course, it's not clear why people were willing to pay an extra $12 when it clearly stated the delivery day was the same either way, but hey, pobody's nerfect, right guys?

To Our Valued Apple Customer:

Thank you for your recent Apple iPad purchase.

Our records indicate that when you placed your iPad pre-order, you
chose to pay for expedited shipping.

Expedited shipping is not necessary to ensure delivery. Apple has
processed a refund for the shipping charge on your order. Please
contact your card-issuing bank for information on when the credit
will be posted to your account.

Your iPad will deliver on April 3rd in the areas where UPS offers
Saturday delivery.
