Apple Quietly Bumps Plastic MacBook To 2.4GHzS

As we expected, Apple has refreshed its solitary plastic MacBook (favored by the cheap), bumping it from 2.26GHz to 2.4GHz. Hard drive capacity is the same as last October's refresh, but the real story is the extra three hours' battery-life.

Full specs include: 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of DDR3 RAM (same as last year's refresh), NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics card (from last year's GeForce 9400M card), an 8x double-layer SuperDrive, and yep, that 10-hour battery life. It's still got the unibody polycarbonate casing, so is virtually indistinguishable from what everyone else has currently.

Same price, too—$999. Shipping with 24 hours, claims Apple. Shame there's no Core i5 or i7 as some rumors suggested—but when the 13-inch MacBook Pro is still lagging behind with an 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, it was probably too much to expect anyway. [Apple via TechRadar]
