DIY Touchscreen Pinball Machine is Nice, but Why Does it Exist?

Look, this DIY LCD pinball machine is definitely impressive. I'm just wondering what the point is.

I mean, does anyone actually think that video pinball is better than the real deal? Is there a reason for video pinball to exist other than the impractical size requirements of an actual pinball machine? So when you take a giant touchscreen and put it in a pinball cabinet, aren't you getting the worst of both worlds?

But hey, to each his own. In any case, this build is impressive in its quality and attention to detail. It's too bad it doesn't have any real balls. [Crave DIY via Make]
