Camera grips are quite useful for one-handed camera wielding, but when it comes to point and shoots, they come at the cost of portability. This patent here indicates Sony found a way to have their cake and eat it too.
As you can see in the scematic, Sony took the sliding lens cover, found on many of their Cybershot cameras, and added a hinge mechanism, which folds into a triangular grip on one side. Sure, it doesn't exactly scream out ERGONOMIC; but I mean it's a point-and-shoot and it's better than not having one. Not only does this patent seem practical and useful, but it also seems like it could be implemented sooner than later. Do it, Sony. [Patent via Sony Alpha Rumors via PetaPixel via CrunchGear]
