London's Olympics Clock Failed Hours After it Began the Big Count-Down

Well now, this is embarrassing for Britain. They only just unveiled their 2012 Olympics countdown clock in the center of London's Trafalgar Square last night, but already it has stopped working.

What makes it extra galling is that the 6.5m tall clock's design was apparently inspired by the Greenwich Meridian line, which is the "home of time." The clock stopped running today, pausing it at 500 days, seven hours, six minutes and 56 seconds. At least Britain can pass off some of the blame—the clock is made by Omega, a Swiss company.
