The image you see of Julia Robert' flawless face has been gooning down from billboards and magazines for months now. Only trouble is, it's fake—and now banned in the UK.
As you can see on the left, the reality is still beautiful, but nowhere near the perfection Lancome has put across in its adverts. While other stars such as Kate Winslet refuse to be airbrushed, Roberts allegedly had a clause put in her contract with Lancome that pre-airbrushed photos can never be released.
The UK's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) deemed Roberts' ad as "misleading," along with an ad featuring Christy Turlington for Maybelline. I predict we'll be hearing more stories of advertising clamp-downs in the future, and that Kate Winslet will be getting a lot more work out of these changing tides—don't you?
