Verizon thought it was sooo slick, blocking Google Wallet on the new Galaxy Nexus in order to promote its in-house alternative. Too bad Verizon didn't count on the Internet.
Thanks to some kindly souls over at the XDA-Developers Forum, Google Wallet is now available on the Nexus—without hacks or roots. They were able to modify the app to work on the Nexus and install as an APK. Nexus users will need a file explorer to locate the app once its on the phone but that's about it. The APK is available for download here.
Our own Chris Beidelman installed the unofficial app this evening on his Nexus and reports that it does, in fact, work—in that his phone is not bricked. [PC World]
