Sure, Google Glass might slap a HUD on your face and the Google Car might be your next chauffeur but can either of them pour you a pint? KegDroid can.

Invented by home-brewmaster—and Google employee—Paul Carff, the KegDroid is a Rube-Goldberg-esque beer tap that leverages Google technologies to pour a glass of beer. It employs a Xoom tablet running ICS for primary processing and an Arduino board to link the mechanical pumping processes and an NFC reader to the tablet.

The KegDroid uses a, NFC-based authentication system whereby imbibers swipe their NFC "badge" over a reader mounted between the taps. The system then pulls information (name and portrait) from your Google+ profile. If you check out, the system then provides a list of available beers and sizes. Once you make your selection, the KegDroid will automatically dispense your adult beverage.

If these things do go mainstream, you can be sure they'll find their way into beer tents, Oktoberfests, and concert halls the world over. But will we still have to tip? [Google+ via TNW via CultofAndroid]
