You Can Download BitTorrent Files with Your BrowserS

Though torrenting files has been around forever, there has always been a relatively high barrier of entry that kept normal people from diving in. Not anymore. BitTorrent just announced Torque, a new JavaScript interface that'll let you download BitTorrent files right from your browser. It's going to be so easy now.

Yep, no more need of pesky desktop clients for torrenting anymore but the possibilities of BitTorrent in the browser don't just end there. When web developers get a better handle of it, they'll be able to make tools like torrent video streaming, drag and drop file transfer, social sharing and more. It's BitTorrent finally modernized for the browser and potentially a lot easier to use. Torque is only in alpha right now but it could lead to a huge shift in BitTorrenting:

BitTorrent Torque is a JavaScript interface to a custom torrent client that exposes all the power of BitTorrent to web developers. Simply put, it allows anyone to utilize our powerful technology to create completely fresh and new experiences for users with just a couple lines of code.

This alpha allows BitTorrent to move beyond desktop clients.
