Rumor: Comcast Readying 305 Mbps Home Internet

If you want blisteringly fast home internet, the best option is currently Verizon's FiOS Quantum which gives you a connection capable of speeds of up to 300 Mbps. Not wanting to be outdone, though, Comcast is reported to be preparing its own super-fast home internet which can manage 305 Mbps.

Broadband Reports claims that a Comcast executive has told employees that the company will be offering a 305 Mbps plan before the end of the year. There aren't any rumored details on pricing, data caps or availability date, of course, but it's good to see that competition might be starting.

Where there's competition, after all, there are price drops—which would be no bad thing when you consider that FiOS currently costs an eye-watering $205 a month. Here's hoping that the rumors are true, and that it leads to a price war. [Broadband Reports via GigaOm]
