Lunacy is the lead song off Swans' new 2-hour Goliath of an album, The Seer, which dropped a few days ago. The whole album is a staggeringly complex—I want to say "thick"—piece of work, and Lunacy provides a nice introduction.
The unsettling, malevolent-sounding hymn-like vocal intro sets this dark, brooding but intense mood, and things just take off from there with an all-out insane chant of "lunacy." The track really justifies its name. It incorporates some serious repetitive, drone elements that might not be your cup of tea exactly, but it's an impressive wall of sound, and one that does justice to the album that follows it. At least, to the parts of that album that I've managed to listen to so far.
