Ah, Instagram, iPhone, Hipstamatic—they've all done so well to provide "real" photographers with so much to condemn, scoff at, and look down on. You know what? Get over it.

Journalist and multimedia producer Richard Koci Hernandez, tired of the onslaught of photo-shaming, decided to take a stand with a video-essay and CNN article advocating for the state of modern photography. Hernandez points out the historical amnesia of today's authenticity police, and makes a passioned argument for why people feel compelled to 'dress' their photos in vintage stylings.
