We're all dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Luckily the Red Cross has a handy suite of disaster preparedness apps, including one that's specific to Hurricanes.
What does it do?
It shows you open Red Cross shelters in your area in case you've had to leave your home. It also sends a one-touch message that says "I'm safe" to your social networks so your family and friends knows you haven't been swept away.
Why do we like it?
This hurricane did more damage than any of us expected, and now we're sifting through the damage. Many of us don't have power or Internet, and even if we do the connection is spotty. This also has a couple of things you might find useful like a flashlight and an alarm. Here you'll find many of the resources you need to keep yourself safe in the next few days.
