Jack Dorsey Explains How the Idea of Twitter Was Born

Twitter is just a part of everyday life for a lot of us, but back in the days before, someone actually had to think it up. In an upcoming interview on this week's 60 Minutes, Twitter co-founder and Square CEO Jack Dorsey sits down to explain exactly how the idea for Twitter came to be.

According to Dorsey, the idea spouted from his childhood fascination with emergency transmissions he would listen to on a police scanner. It was his first introduction to the short, terse bursts of information he'd later replicate with Twitter. Little did he know Twitter would grow up to become a global news network of its own. And also a place for bad jokes.

You can catch the whole interview this Sunday on CBS at March 17th at 7PM ET/PT. [CBS News]
