A Woman Robbed a Bank with a Can of Spaghetti Sauce

Of all the food related items or household goods that you could use to pretend to be a bomb, spaghetti sauce has to be pretty low on the list. Not to a 60-year-old woman near Detroit though, she used spaghetti sauce to rob an entire bank. And she got away.

Don't worry for humanity, it wasn't as if the spaghetti sauce robber was waving a can of Ragu threatening to paint the bank red with marinara unless everyone gave her all their money. Instead, the woman simply placed a cloth bag (with the can of spaghetti sauce) on the counter of Fifth Third Bank in Clinton Township, Michigan and demanded money from the bank teller saying there was a bomb inside the bag. The police said:

"It did look like there was a hard object in there. But it was folded over so you couldn't see what was inside. It turned out that it was a couple of cans of spaghetti sauce inside the bag"

Of course if someone claims to have a bomb, it's good practice to act as if they have a bomb. It's better to not get blown up than be tricked with a can of tomato sauce, you know? The police have no idea how much money the bank robber got away with or where she is now, only saying they have a pretty good lead on the suspect. (they should probably look for someone buying more spaghetti sauce). [Detroit Free Press via Consumerist, Image Credit: marco mayer/Shutterstock]
