Bearing in mind that Security.org usually wants to sell you a fix to the problems they talk about, they are warning users of some models of Kensington cable locks for notebook computers that the product can be easily defeated with a dollar's worth of common office supplies (the exact method isn't given). While that's sort of disappointing - and something Kensington should address, certainly - if you were leaving your laptop unattended in places where someone has even 30 seconds of time to try to fiddle with your locks, you're sort of asking for it anyway.

As many of the posters in the referring Slashdot thread say, notebook lock are like The Club. It's not that it secures your car; it's that it secures you car a little more than the next guy's.
