I'll be honest, I have no idea how to use a slide rule. But I've always found them to be very intriguing, mostly because they look very complicated, and I have a soft spot for the trappings of geekery, even if it's in the most superficial, vicarious way. So when I saw this story on Wired, along with this picture of a permanent exhibit at Purdue showcasing over 200 slide rules, including this oversized comedy slide rule (as featured in the world's most tedious vaudeville act ever)... well, you didn't need a calculator to determine my logarithm, I'm saying.
