Verizon's Get It Now Service Review

Gizmodo cub reporter Andru Edwards takes on Get It Now, the extended services, uhm, service from Verizon Wireless. He gives it an 8 out of 10, which on the Gizmodo scale is the equivilent of twelve cupcakes and the Brushed Aluminum Product Spoon. Andru takes us out for the short spin, and provides the full review at his site, Gearlive.

    The Bottom Line

Mobile entertainment is usually somewhat of a luxury that you need to
purchase to enjoy. With Get It Now, Verizon has included a way to get
your entertainment, on demand, through your mobile phone. This is a
collection of features and services users pay extra for which are
accessible simply by using the Get It Now feature on enabled phones
    with Verizon service.

Using Get It Now, you have access to games, ringtones, text messaging,
AOL Instant Messenger, and more. Upon signing on to Get It Now, you are
given the option of choosing which section of the service you want to
access. Some examples of the different areas are getGOING, getTONES,
and getGAMES. After making your selection, you are then given a list of
products or content providers. Choose your application, and after a
minute or so it is downloaded to your phone. You can then run the
    application. It is very intuitive.

Newer Verizon phones with built-in cameras have access to an area called
getFLIX and getPIX. This is basically a picture messaging feature that
allows you to send pictures and video taken with your phone to friends.

Verizon Wireless Get It Now is a nice addition to the Verizon Wireless
service. Prices range from reasonable to ridiculous based on the
service you wish to use. If you are a Verizon subscriber then give it a
try, there is something for everyone.
