Following the 25GB Blu-ray blank discs that are now shipping, Sony announced it will ship dual-layer 50GB Blu-ray blanks in June.

The bad news is that the 50GB discs will cost $48 for the recordable 50GB BD-R, and $60 for the rewritable BD-RE. That's more than twice as much as the retail price of Sony's 25GB BD-R and BD-RE Blu-ray discs. Sheesh, it would be cheaper to just buy a FireWire hard drive.
