Microsoft Has Six Original TV Series in Production

Amazon and Netflix are doing it in style, Yahoo's clamouring to join in, and now Bloomberg reports that Microsoft has at least six original series in production, too.

Bloomberg reports that Xbox's TV studio, which is headed by ex-CBS exec Nancy Tellem, is working hard. The report explains that among the projects are a Sarah Silverman sketch show, a Seth Green stop-animation series and a slightly weird-sounding Swedish thriller about replicant-like robots called Humans. Elsewhere, there's the Steven Spielberg-produced Halo TV series that we already knew about, and a soccer-themed show called Every Street United which should air around the time of the World Cup.

While there doesn't seem to be much of a connection between any of those shows, according to Xbox chief Phil Spencer they're all selected to draw users to the Xbox platform, in particular Xbox Live. Apparently, then, they are all set to have some kind of interactivity to engage viewers. With a dozen or so more shows apparently also currently in development too, that might be an awful lot of interactivity on the way. [Bloomberg via Engadget]
