About the Role

Gizmodo Media Group (GMG), which is part of Univision's digital arm, Fusion Media Group, is seeking an experienced and creative graphics and visualizations editor to work across all eight of our web properties. The ideal candidate will understand and appreciate the approach and tone of GMG publications, and have sharp, innovative ideas about how to translate our reporting and writing into data-driven charts, infographics, maps, interactives, and other visuals. Since this is a new role at GMG, the right person will also be someone who can develop and implement best practices and a consistent aesthetic for graphics across our sites. They should also have a broad news sensibility, and the ability to work across diverse subject areas--think everything from consumer tech to politics to tennis. Expect to work closely with our editorial teams, as well as our art director and product team.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have at least 2 years experienced working in graphics and data-driven storytelling in a digital newsroom.
  • Understand how to design across platforms, from desktop to mobile. Be comfortable working with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS (no need to be an expert coder).
  • Display a deep understanding of data and statistics, and, most importantly, how they can help our editorial teams tell better, more informative stories.
  • Have a keen eye for design and aesthetics, from chart style to font size. 
  • Be creative, organized, enterprising, collaborative, and thick-skinned.
