Are you an undergraduate, recent graduate or graduate student with a strong interest in journalism?
Fusion.net, a site with a focus on news curation, social justice and politics for a young, diverse audience, and The Root, the daily online news site that provides commentary on today's news from a variety of African American perspectives, are each looking for a 2017 Summer Intern.
They are part of the Gizmodo Media Group ( GMG) and are seeking sharp, curious, and fun aspiring journalists to intern with our Editorial Staff in New York City. GMG is the wholly owned digital group of Univision, is the publisher of the web’s most original media brands, including Gizmodo, Kotaku, Lifehacker, Deadspin, Jezebel, Jalopnik, Fusion.net, The Root . It is part of the larger Fusion Media Group network of sites, which also includes Univision.com, The Onion, The AV Club, Fand Clickhole, reaching ~ 85MM unique visitors a month.
This is an eight-week, full-time paid internship in our Manhattan newsroom . We prefer the summer internship to start on or around June 12 but have some flexibility if needed.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Sharp instincts for news and smart storytelling
- Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges and the ability to work efficiently and independently
- Strong communication & organizational skills
- Social Media chops and a good understanding of use of visuals, particularly video
- A knowledge of and passion for news, culture, social justice and politics.
