Will you guys do as comprehensive of a review of Blackberry 5.0? Please? :)
ReplyIf not, then MEH...
ReplyAlso, though it's fairly obvious Gizmodo is full of Apple Fans, the iPhone really is groundbreaking (or was) and receives a lot of attention - even from outside Gizmodo.
It's bound to happen.
This, of course, doesn't even bring up the fact that there are some who do really care.
ReplyBut this particular post merely links to the other ones written earlier this week. In retrospect, I can understand this as Giz's attempt to reach out to the weekend-only readership that didn't catch the first few 3.0 posts.
@thePrototype: Thanks. I know of this option. And as much as I do enjoy the majority of the Apple posts, it was sort of "last straw" for me. But, it's all good now for the reason I mentioned above.
@cipotefello: Maybe you said more than just that to have ticked them off so much to ban you. Sounds awfully authoritarian to me.
@Brian Lam: *fawns* at having BLam comment on my thread =D
@JeffPom: 3GS is hardly groundbreaking, I must say. This will be evident in the comments of those earlier posts on 3GS this week. What's really striking is Pre downloadership at 700k.
I care a lot about the Apple stuff. But even for an Apple fan, there is such a thing as too much coverage.. that's all :)
ReplyActually your follow up point in some ways is really more the point I think is important - it's that the other systems don't get the same level of coverage even when they're as widely used (or more so - such as your Blackberry 5.0).
And then there's the singular dismissal of the first SmartPhone OS - Windows Mobile. Still, they have had articles on that - and since the big one will be WM7 next year, I can *mostly* cut some slack there.
Although not including WM in the 'smartphone comparison list' was kind of dense in my opinion - especially since the list was pretty heavily stacked in favour of the iPhone (iTunes compatibility? Really? When most smartphone users use Windows Media player?) and modern WM phones actually stand up pretty well by that list.
ReplySure, I understand that Gizmodo is mostly US-centric, but perhaps part of the lack of popularity of Symbian-based phones in the North America can be traced to the fact that almost no one knows about them, so customers don't expect or care if providers carry those phones.
