i dont get why anyone prefers earbuds over regular headphones. sony makes good shit under $50, and sennheiser makes excellent shit for under $100. no constant plugging and unplugging from your ears, no earwax issues, no tangled cords... someone, please, why earbuds??

@nutbastard: i love my cans, but they just aren't very convenient at the gym, or even when i'm traveling, since they don't fit in my pocket.

@nutbastard: Earbuds are great while running and they stow away in your pocket. If I carried a bag everywhere, I'd rock a set of headphones.

@nutbastard: Headphones are fine at home, but when I'm out I prefer the relative discretion of my (wireless Sennheiser) earbuds.

@nutbastard: I agree. I have tiny canals so it's hard to find a pair that fit without hurting after about 10 minutes. Not hard at all to find a decent pair of over ear phones.

@nutbastard:
1) I skydive: There's no way a set of cans is going to fit into my helmet. There's no way that set of cans will be audible if I wasn't wearing a helmet.
2) Physical activity: As was mentioned in the article, over-ear headphones are heavier and less secure, 'nuff said.
3) Pockets: Cans don't fit in them.
4) Earwax: I clean my ears regularly, it's no factor. Reply

@nutbastard: If I didn't spend part of my day in a jet-engine loud machine room I'd be using my Sony V6s all the time.

@nutbastard: You're not a dork. Some people have preferences, or can't wear earbuds because of what they do. I own earbuds or exercise and travel (easier to fit into my netbook case) and I also have a pair of headphones for listening at home.

@nutbastard: the main reason I prefer my SE530's over around or over-ear headphones is the heat issues; my ears tend to heat up extremely quickly when I am wearing anything but earbuds, and I'm sure it is this way for other people as well
